FRONTIER Series

FRONTIER is a series of seven large-format digitally-constructed images. Their structure, layout, size and presentation are strategies borrowed from commercial design, advertising, historical tapestries, painting and magazines. Their scale evokes banners from political, heraldic and sporting events. The source material is pulled from my own photographs and contact sheets, from magazines and details from scanned objects. All of these elements are brought together in formal arrangements. The use of digital technology emphasizes the definition of pixel composition, furthered by the contrast with high-definition text fused into the picture plane. The seven parts of FRONTIER are ALLIANCE, CAGE, HUMBLE, BRUTE, CYCLONE, FLICK and FRONTIER.
