Granite Club 2007
Persona Volare: Granite Club
The Granite Club took place at the Tree Museum near Gravenhurst from August to November 2007. Temporary site-specific works were installed by Persona Volare along a rambling hike through the woods and out onto the Precambrian shield.
Persona Volare, a group of city-dwellers, is dedicated to exploring non-museum sites, especially sites that have a special symbolic charge. For their exhibition The Granite Club they engaged in the myth and mystique of the Great Canadian wilderness. They took this occasion as a chance to challenge and embrace the true character of the land - the maple syrup licking, outhouse sitting, tree hugging, chain saw wielding, skinny dipping, canoeing, barbecuing, mosquito scratching, black fly swatting glory of it all.
