Smoking City
My piece depicts a generalized North American cityscape made up of numerous corrugated cardboard skyscrapers. Periodically, smoke begins to leak from the buildings, increasing in intensity, then diminishing into a smoggy haze. The cause of the smoke is ambiguous, its character changing with its intensity. At its most intense, it feels like smoke from a citywide disaster, while at other times it seems like pollution or fog.
